One of the ways to build new contacts, be it if you have your own business or are looking for a new career, is to network. I am an active member of WIBN and each month we all are required to stand up for 1 minute and talk about our business. I like to put a creative spin on these and often get my inspirations when sitting in bed first thing in the morning, sipping my cup of tea. One morning – before the WIBN meeting, I was pondering what to talk about. My mind often wanders and I started to think about my friend Karen who kindly gave me a bushy healthy tomato plant It made me think about the role of a gardener – plants grow naturally – I look out of our window and there is a plethora of green – plants of different shapes and sizes.
So the role of a gardener is there to support the plants, to nurture them and ensure they get what they need to grow strong –a gardener uses different tools and techniques to get rid of barriers that are damaging the plant and to encourage them to grow and bring out their best. I love Alan Titchmarsh’s quote “…gardening is deeply instinctive”. It reminds me of coaching.
I took that tomato plant to the WIBN meeting and talked about the role of the gardener…..a great metaphor for the role of a Coach – people live fine without coaches – however those that do have coaches are supported, they are empowered to grow strong, they get rid of barriers and their strengths and attributes are enhanced. Life improves with abundance. How would that be for you?
