How comfortable are you talking to strangers? These could be friends of friends at social occasions; at networking events; or meeting people on holiday. Do you stand there thinking “Argh – I can’t think of anything to say” and the more you think about it, the more stressed you become and the more your mind becomes blank of things to say. It’s horrible – I know – I used to dread going to social and corporate events – all that small talk – thinking that people will judge me and think that I’m stupid. I shudder just at the thought of remembering those times.
Here’s the thing – being comfortable talking with others is a skill – and skills can be learned.
So why is it worth learning the art of open conversation?
You will:
The first step in learning the art of open conversations is to imagine that there is a connection with you and the other person – set the intention that you want to connect and get to know this person – be curious in finding out more about them. Get in the right frame of mind.
The next steps….watch this short video and find out more. And do remember to practice. As my old school motto said “Practice makes Perfect”
