As a coach – I like to work on my own issues – I think it’s important that I do – I mean, you wouldn’t go to a overweight personal trainer that smokes would you?!
We all have issues, big or small. Over the last few years I have explored many of my foibles and overcame them. However I have one that has been bugging me for years. I’ve explored this with my own coach….I know where the issue stems from…however – it’s still there – until NOW!
Ok, ok – I confess – my issue was that I didn’t like writing. I knew that it’s a great way to connect with people but I always found some kind of excuse not to write. For example, my old website didn’t have blogging capability. But then I changed my website – and blow goes that excuse – it has a blog facility. I started well; I wrote a blog in September and 4 in October….(which took me ages), then the clock ticked on, oh so quickly, and before I knew it – November…December…and now January passes by!
How am I working on resolving this issue, you may ask….Recently I have met 2 people that love to write, a client and a great lady that I network with. You may know that I am a Master NLP practitioner, which is about the study of excellence. So I was curious to know how both of them wrote – how did they feel? What was their process? What state of mind were they in when they wrote? Where? When?… Both of them just write, they sit there and let the words flow from their finger tips. They sometimes decide the subject the week before and then are aware of events and incidences during the week that could aid their writing. They both then sit down at the computer and type. They don’t stop until they’ve finished and allow the words to flow. Once they’ve finished, they review and edit. They are relaxed and enjoy the process.
So that’s what I am doing right now….and I’m enjoying it. So cheers to many more blogs.
What is it that you want to improve? Who do you know that is brilliant at it? Start to discover how they do what they do, their state of mind etc – and enjoy the process.
