Do you feel out of control? Is anxiety stopping you from sleeping, causing you to have palpitations, shortness of breath or butterflies in your stomach?
For some, being in a state of anxiety seems to do with circumstances they feel they cannot control. Perhaps you are overworked, life is too hectic, and you want to get off the frantic merry-go-round?
When we have anxiety or feel stressed, our bloodstream is flooded with cortisol, the stress hormone. Left in our bodies for too long, it can lead to serious health problems. It also shuts down the part of our brain that allows us to solve problems, think creatively and behave rationally. That’s why when we’re anxious, it can be tough to think objectively and find solutions.
